The New Club Taiping is one of the oldest clubs in Malaysia. It was established in 1892 by European members of the Perak Club, a now defunct club that was founded even earlier, in 1885. The site of the New Club dates back to 1894, and was inaugurated by the Sultan of Perak, Raja Sir Idris Mersedil Aathim Shah.
The New Club holds the distinction of having the first golf course in the Federated Malay States, and the second oldest golf course in Southeast Asia.
