About the Tambanuo
Tambanuo is an indigenous people living in Sabah. They are found mostly in the Labuk-Sugut, Kota Marudu and Pitas districts of the Kudat Division.
There are about 20,000 Tambunuo people, as of 1990. They are considered to be a subgroup of the Kadazan-Dusun, even though their language is from the Paitanic branch of the Austronesian language family, and not from the Dusunic branch. 20% of the Tambunuo are now Christians, while the remainder continue to be animist.
