Tanjung Rhu, Langkawi

Tanjung Rhu, on the northeastern part of Langkawi, has some of the best beaches on the island. The name Tanjung Rhu means Cape of Casuarina, and refers to the casuarina palms along the beach as well as along the road leading to Tanjung Rhu. Tanjung Rhu is sheltered from strong current by the curve of the bay as well as Tanjung Ayer overlooking it.
Several five-star resorts are located at Tanjung Rhu, among them the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi and the Tanjung Rhu Resort. One of the most distinctive landmarks at Tanjung Rhu is the twin-shaped rocky outcrop next to Pulau Kelam Baya. Other islands off Tanjung Rhu include Pulau Pasir, Pulau Gasing and Pulau Dangli. Further in the horizon is the Tarutao archipelago of South Thailand.
