About Tawau Hills National ParkTawau Hills National Park is a protected forest on the northwest of Tawau in Sabah. Also called Tawau Hills Park, the area is located 24 km from Tawau. It was made a protected water catchment area in 1979. There are seven rivers that flow through this 27972-hectare national park, forming deepwater pools and waterfalls. The road leading towards the national park pass through oil palm and rubber estates. The tallest peaks in the area are Mount Magdalena (1310 meters) and Mount Lucia (1201 meters). Also located here is the 530-meter Bombalai Hill, the remains of an ancient crater.Among the attractions at Tawau Hills Park is the Gelas Hill Waterfall and the Sulphur Spring, located about three hours' walk from the park headquarters.
