Terengganu River is the main river flowing through the state of Terengganu, on the East Coast of Peninsula Malaysia. The river ends its course at Kuala Terengganu, whose name means "estuary of the Terengganu", to empty into the South China Sea. It is a slow meandering river near the estuary, with several river islands such as Pulau Duyong, Pulau Duyong Kecil and Pulau Wan Man.

In the coming years, the Terengganu River is expected to see further development. Until some fifty years ago, the only way to cross the river was by ferryboats. The Sultan Mahmud Bridge opened in 1990 has made the crossing speedier. Another two bridges are being planned at the mouth of the river to ease congestion on the Sultan Mahmud Bridge. One of the bridge will be upriver from the Sultan Mahmud Bridge, linking Kampung Teluk Pasu with Pulau Sekati and the Museum precinct in Losong. Another will be across Sungai Nerus between Kampung Jeram and Kampung Jeram Tokong. Both bridges will be approximately 1.5 km in length. There is also a plan to build a bridge or possibly a tunnel from Dataran Shahbandar to Seberang Takir across the mouth of the river.
