Terengganu State Museum is the biggest museum in Malaysia. It occupies a 27-hectare plot in Bukit Losong, on the way to Taman Tamadun Islam. The main buildings are four imposing blocks, entered through a grand staircase.
The exhibits in the main building of Terengganu State Museum are spread over six different galleries. At the Royal Gallery are photographs and portraits of all the sultans of Terengganu. The royal regalia are also showcased here.

The Natural History Gallery showcases the minerals and wildlife of Terengganu. Photographs show the archaeological excavations conducted in the state. Also displayed are the various indoor and outdoor games played by children in the state.
The Craft Gallery displays the various traditional handicrafts of Terengganu. There are also on display different types of tools, basketware, coconut scraper, and other items of household use.
The Weapons Gallery exhibits different types of Malay weapons such as spears and daggers (keris).
The Petroleum Gallery showcases the petroleum industry of Terengganu, with explanation on how petroleum is extracted, the location of oil fields and different types of gasoline.

The Islam Gallery showcases the introduction of the religion to Terengganu. Of particular interest here is the Terengganu Stone, an inscribed stone which has the oldest surviving Jawi text in existence.
The Textile Gallery provides a glimpse into the development of textile in Malaysia, particularly in Terengganu. The tools used for producing batik and songket are shown.
On the grounds of the Terengganu State Museum is a pavilion where the royal automobiles are displayed, along with a small airplane. Further on the back of the museum are life-size houses representing various traditional houses of the state.
A short walking distance from the main building is the Maritime Museum, where various boats from the days of old are displayed.

Getting there
By BusTake the Bas Bandar (town bus) Route C-02 from Dataran Shahbandar. Journey takes about 15 minutes.
By Driving
Take Jalan Sultan Mohammad west out of Kuala Terengganu. Turn right to Jalan Tok Ku at the junction, continue until junction with Jalan Losong Feri. Continue along Jalan Losong Feri until you see the museum at the end of the road, on your left.

Admission Details
The Terengganu State Museum is open Saturdays to Thursdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Fridays from 9:00 to 12:00 noon and then 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The museum is open on public holidays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm as well.Entrance fee is now set at RM5.00 per adult and RM2.00 for children aged 7 to 15. Children in school uniform pays RM1.00. Photograph inside the museum building is prohibited.
