Let's explore the many theme parks in Malaysia. Among the most famous are the Genting Theme Park in Genting Highlands and the Sunway Lagoon Theme Park in Kuala Lumpur.

Genting Theme Park is located at Level 2A of First World Plaza. It comprises the Indoor and Outdoor Theme Parks. Inside the Indoor Theme Park is Snow World which recreates the winter environment with temperature at -5°C. Another attraction is Genting Sky Venture, which simulates the feeling of parachuting. Extreme sports enthusiasts can also go rock climbing at the Indoor Theme Park. Also within the First World Plaza is the Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum.

Sunway Lagoon is a theme park in Kuala Lumpur. It covers an area of about 80 acres. It is part of an 800 acre tract of former tin mining land. It is the most popular theme park in Malaysia, due to its location in Kuala Lumpur. It opened to the public on 24 October 1992. The then prime minister, Dato Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad officiated in its opening on 29 April 1993. It won 2 of the tourism awards for 1994 and 1995 for the most outstanding contribution to the tourism industry and the best entertainment spot. The theme park has the longest hanging bridge in Malaysia. The water park of Sunway Lagoon is the only water park located 150 feet below road level. Visitors have to take the escalator to reach the water park. The Adventure Park, part of Sunway Lagoon, is a 5-acre theme park that opened in March 1994. Fort Lagoon Wild Wild West was constructed at a cost of RM30 million. The man-made surf wave pool is a 13,000 sq meter pool. It has a wave making machine that creates 8-feet tall waves that break onto a man-made beach front. Sunway Lagoon also has the longest suspension walk bridge in Malaysia. It spans 450 meters across the pool.

Mines Wonderland is another theme park in Kuala Lumpur. It is located in Seri Kembangan, Sungai Besi. It is built on the site of Hong Fatt Mine, the largest open cast tin mine in the world. It has a 150-acre man-made lake. Among the attractions at Mines Wonderland include the 3D Aqua Laser Show, the Musical Fountain, the Light Fantasy on Water and Animal Wonderland.

Bukit Merah Theme Park is situated at the Bukit Merah Interchange. It opened in 1997 at the side of Bukit Merah Lake, a 7000 acre man-made lake built by the British in 1904 for irrigation of the farms and for human consumption. The water park covers 4.4 hectares with at least 10 attractions.
