About Mount Trus Madi
Mount Trus Madi, or Gunung Trus Madi, is the second tallest mountain in Sabah. It is located close to Mount Kinabalu, and stands at a height of 2642 meters (8668 feet). Mount Trus Madi is the tallest point on the Trus Madi range. The mountain is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including pitcher plants such as the Nepenthes macrophylla.
Getting there
The road to Trus Madi leads from Tambunan. The upper slopes and peak are forest reserves. However, the mountain is surrounded by logging concessions. To reach the summit, take the muddy logging trails. A 4WD would be a necessity for the trip. Visitors are strongly urged to hire a guide. You can arrange for one at the Tambunan Village Resort Centre (tel: 087 774076). Be prepared to pay around RM200 per guide (for taking a maximum of 8 hikers). Porters will cost you RM150 each.
