Ywama Village is the main town in Inle Lake. Ywama village is well-known as the site of the daily floating market which, unlike its cousins in Bangkok, has managed to retain its rustic charm. Still, even here, tourist commercialism is slowly creeping in to change the lifelihood of the average Myanmar, although just a trickle compared to the tidal wave of visitors received by neighbouring Thailand.

A tour of Ywama Village will usually include stopping over at the floating market, as visiting Phaung Daw U Monastery and Nga Phe Monastery (better known as the jumping-cat monastery).
