The ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands is one of the newest museums in Singapore. It is housed in an iconic lotus-inspired structure overlooking Marina Bay, symbolic of a welcoming hand beaconing visitors from all over the world. The ArtsScience Museum, as is the entire resort, was designed by Palestine-born Canadian architect Moshe Safdie. The engineering team was headed by London-based Arup global professional services and New York-based Parsons Brinckerhoff. It is said to be designed in consultation with feng shui masters, the late Master Chong Swan Lek and Master Louisa Ong-Lee.
The ArtScience Museum was opened by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on 17 February, 2011. It has 21 gallery spaces with a total floor area of 50,000 square feet (6,000 sq m). The museum has a line of permanent exhibits as well as tourist exhibits that are changed regularly. The permanent exhibits are housed in three galleries named Curiosity, Inspiration and Expression.
