Barn Island, Singapore
Barn Island is the other name for Pulau Senang, a 81.7-hectare coral island located near the southernmost part of Singapore's international boundary. It was the site of a failed penal settlement that was established in 1960, but closed down after just three years following the rioting by detainees there.
Today Barn Island, along with Pulau Sudong and Pulau Pawai, both to its north, is used by the Singapore Armed Forces for live-firing, and is therefore off limits to casual visitors.
