Cavenagh Road, Singapore
Cavenagh Road is a road in the Orchard Road area of Singapore. The road comprises two section. One section starts off the Central Expressway and ends at the intersection with Buyong Road and Kramat Road. The other section starts at the western end of Kramat Road and joins Orchard Road between Orchard Plaza and Concorde Hotel & Shopping Mall.
Cavenagh Road was named Sir Orfeur Cavenagh, the last Governor of the Straits Settlement (1859-1867) under the Indian administration. Originally known as New Cemetery Road, it was renamed because Cavenagh was residing at the Istana, the official residence of the British Governor which is located nearby. Cavenagh Bridge was also named after him.
