Heritage Trees of the Singapore Botanic Gardens

There are a number of Heritage Trees at the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

The Purple Millettia is a big, elegant tree. You can see it near the Gingle Garden. It has a dome-shaped crown with small, dark, shiny leaves. The Purple Millettia is a native of Southeast Asia.

The Tembusu (Fragraea fragrans) is a tree native to Singapore. Even under pool soil, it can grow to a massive size. If unpruned, the tree tends to become unkempt, with low sweeping branches. Tembusu provides strong hardwood. Its flowers are fragent and attract evening moths.
