Hong Lim Complex, Singapore
Hong Lim Complex (see map) is a shopping arcade, food centre and apartment complex in Chinatown. It is located at the junction between Upper Cross Street and South Bridge Road.
Hong Lim Complex was of course named after Cheang Hong Lim (1841-1893), the 19th century local tycoon whose properties included trades in opium and spirit, but who has also donated generously to the public, providing space, among others, for the creation of Hong Lim Park.
Getting there
Take the North East Line of the Singapore MRT to the Chinatown MRT Station. Exit the station to Pagoda Street. Walk the length of Pagoda Street to South Bridge Road. Turn left and walk north on South Bridge Road till you see Hong Lim Complex after the intersection with Upper Cross Street.
