Monuments in Singapore

There is a surprising number of monuments in Singapore. The majority are sited a little out of the way, so you might not notice them. The monuments commemorate significant events, outstanding personalities and even tragedies in the history of the island nation. There are also monuments erected to honour specific individuals for their contribution, as well as those that were built to flatter persons in high standing, with the hope of gaining something in return.
On this page I want to show you some of the monuments that you can find in Singapore today, and provide you their history or background. Please check back often as I add to this page.
