Paterson Road, Singapore
Paterson Road is a major thoroughfare in the Orchard Road area. It runs from the Orchard Road intersection, across from Scotts Road, to the intersection with Grange Road, across from Irwell Bank Road and Hoot Kiam Road. It was known in Hokkien as Tanglin Mata-chu Au, meaning "road behind the Tanglin Police Station".
Paterson Road was named after W.R. Paterson, who arrived in Singapore in 1849 and joined the firm of Kerr, Rawson & Company, eventually becoming one of the major partners in the establishment.
