Prinsep Street, Singapore
Prinsep Street (map) is a street in downtown Singapore. It begins at Stamford Road, beside the Singapore Management University. It intersects with Bras Basah Road at the Rendezvous Hotel. In front of Paradiz Centre, it forks into two, with the left branch continuing as Selegie Road. The section from Paradiz Centre to Rochor Canal Road is a two-way street, whereas the section from Stamford Road to Paradiz Centre is one way heading east.
Prinsep Street was named after lawyer C.H. Prinsep in 1858. Before that, it was known as Flint Street. C.H.Prinsep once owned a big nutmeg plantation in the area. The road was built through his plantation.
