Singapore General Hospital Museum, or SGH Museum, is a medical museum occupying the historic Bowyer Block building within the campus of the Singapore General Hospital. Officially opened by Singapore President S.R. Nathan on 20 May, 2005, the museum preserves the history, old documents, medical appliances and photographs related to the Singapore General Hospital. Using the latest audio-visual technology, it provides an insight into the development of medical education in Singapore.

The Bowyer Block is a historic building erected in 1926. Located at 11, Third Hospital Avenue, it was designed by the architectural firm of Keys & Dowdeswell in the neoclassical style. It was later named in honor of Dr John Herbert Bowyer, a British doctor who was tortured to death by the Japanese during World War II. The building was designated a national monument on 11 November, 2009.

Getting there

Take the East West Line or North East Line of the Singapore MRT to the Outram Park MRT Station and walk a short distance from there.
