 The Gateway Building, Singapore
The Gateway is the name of a twin 40-storey skyscrapers in Singapore. It is located at 150 Beach Road, Singapore 189720, and is also 150 meters tall. The Gateway was completed in 1990.
The Gateway was designed by I.M. Pei, the famous Chinese American architect who also designed Raffles City. The Gateway is noted for its striking symmetry. Its sheer corners provide a visual appeal to the Singapore landscape. The locals, however, call it the "Kueh Lapis Building", as it resembles the local layer cake.
The Gateway Building was developed on the site of the Clyde Terrace Market, a market building that has existed there in the early 20th century.
How to reach the Gateway Building
The the SingaporeMRT East West Line to the Bugis MRT Station (EW12). From there, walk southeast along Rochor Road until you see the Gateway Building on your left, after the intersection with Beach Road.
