The Scarlet Hotel (see map) is a boutique hotel located at the junction of Erskine Road and Ann Siang Road. It occupies a pre-war building that was built in 1924. The interior was renovated in the restoration, in a project which cost S$45 million.
The Scarlet Hotel opened to business in 2004. It has 80 guest rooms that are lavishly (and often garishly) decorated. The hotel offers five individually themed suites, each carrying equally snooty names - Lavish, Opulent, Passion, Splendor and Swank. Its a watering hole for people with money to flaunt and willingness to do it. Certainly, if you have the money, you are in for a unique experience.
The Scarlet Hotel has won numerous awards including Best Boutique Hotel (TTG Travel Awards 2008), Best Accommodation Experience (Singapore Tourism Awards 2008) and Best Boutique Hotels (2008 Singapore Tatler), among others.
Getting there
If you can afford to stay here, you are unlikely to arrive by subway. Nonetheless, Chinatown MRT Station (NE4), served by the North East Line, and the Tanjong Pagar MRT Station, served by the East West Line (EW15), are about equidistance from The Scarlet Hotel.
