Woodlands, Singapore

Woodlands is the northernmost township in Singapore. The name "Woodlands" is said to come from the appearance of the area as seen from the coast. The area was full of keranji trees (Dialium spp.) resembling woods or forest. Woodlands is part of the Sembawang Town Council. Among the sights at Woodlands include Causeway Point, one of the largest shopping malls in Singapore, and Singapore Sports School, a school dedicated to nurture the nation's sporting talent. Republic Polytechnic, Innova Junior College and Singapore American School are some of the education institutions located here.
Woodlands is next to Sembawang New Town and Sungei Kadut Industrial Estate. It is linked by the Causeway to Johor Bahru in Malaysia.
