Geography

Singapore is a relatively flat country. The capital, also called Singapore, is located on the south part of the island. It developed from the banks of the Singapore River. Visitors arriving by air touch down at Singapore Changi Airport on the east side of the island. The western part of Singapore is the industrial estate of Jurong. Most of the island is connected by a web of bus routes and major population areas are served by the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) trains.
