Negombo Coast is lovely beach resort on the west coast of Sri Lanka. It is located within a stone's through from the Colombo International Airport.
Negombo Beach offers wide stretches of sandy beaches punctuated by fishing villages fronting the Indian Ocean. While the beaches of Negombo are not as clean as those of the tourist belt further south, they have a special charm provided by the fishermen's sailing boats. Hotels, bars and restaurants have sprung up to cater to the tourists.
Morning at Negombo Beach, Sri Lanka.
I arrived at Negombo Beach on our first day in Sri Lanka. I was there with a small group of AsiaExplorers members. We arrived in the early hours of the morning, and I only had the chance to walk the beach for a short period before breakfast. Negombo Beach was my introduction to Sri Lanka. Before long, our coach and tour guide have arrived, to take us on the start of our Sri Lanka tour.
