Doi Suthep-Pui National Park is a national park of Thailand in Chiang Mai Province. It was established in 1981 covering 161 sq km, and expanded the following year to a total area of 261 sq km.
Doi Suthep-Pui National Park protects the fragile ecology of the forested mountain lands surrounding the famous Doi Suthep Temple. As with the temple, the national park took its name from the local mythological figure Rishi Warsuthep who is said to have dwelled in a cave in the mountains during the 7th century.

There are three main peaks at Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, of which 1,685-meter Doi Pui is the tallest. The mountains and their surroundings support two different types of forest.
Up to an elevation of 1,000 meters, you will find deciduous forests, including deciduous dipterocarp-oak forest in the driest parts and mixed evergreen deciduous forest near streams and gullies. Above a thousand meters, you find evergreen forests.
How to reach Doi Suthep-Pui National Park
You can take a songthaew from Chiang Mai. There is now a metalled road that goes all the way to the summit of Doi Pui.Return to National Parks of Thailand
