Hin Ta & Hin Yai
Koh Samui rock formation, South Thailand
|
Hin Ta & Hin Yai, which means Grandfather and Grandmother Rock respectively, is a pair of rock formations along the southeastern coast of Koh Samui, about 1 km south of Lamai. Hin Ta & Hin Yai are probably the most visited sights in Koh Samui, after the Big Buddha. What makes Hin Ta & Hin Yai such an oddity was that these two rock formations, a short distance from each other, are in the shape of the male and female genitalia.
In addition to viewing these curious rock forms, the scenery at Hin Ta & Hin Yai is spectacular. To reach the rocks, you need to pass along a path lined on both sides with souvenir stalls selling mostly items made from coconut shells and seashells.
