Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, Kanchanaburi
Kanchanaburi War Cemetery is a cemetery to the war dead located opposite the Kanchanaburi Railway Station. This is the main cemetery for the Allied prisoners of war who died in building the Death Railway. It is located a short distance from the base camp that the POWs pass on their way to build the railway.
The Kanchanaburi War Cemetery holds 6,982 graves including about five thousand Australians and British and the balance Dutch nationals. It is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
