Chicken Island is the nickname for Koh Kai, often written as Koh Gai and Koh Hua Khwan. Chicken Island got its name from the strange rock formation at one tip of the island that looks like the head and neck of an ostrich, chicken or a similar member of the fowl family. One end of the island consists of steep cliffs, while the other end has beautiful beaches along a peninsula. At high tide, this peninsula gets flooded, creating a small island. There is no accommodation on Chicken Island. Chicken Island offers excellent snorkeling opportunities in its warm and clear water which is rich in coral. As Chicken Island is not affected by the monsoon, it can be visited all year round.
