Mae Ping National Park is a national park of Thailand within Chiang Mai Province, along with parts in Lamphun Province and Tak Province. The national park is 120 km (75 mi) to the south of the northern city. It protects the forested areas surrounding the huge Bhumibol Dam, an area of outstanding limestone cliffs. The entire park covers an area of 1004 sq km.

Mae Ping National Park is named after the Ping river, a tributary of the Chao Phraya River and the main river that flows through Chiang Mai. Several rivers have their source in the hills within the national park.

The vegetation of Mae Ping National Park comprises deciduous forest in the lowlands up to an elevation of 1000 meters, and moist evergreen forest above that. Among the wildlife within the park includes barking deer, gibbon, langur, black bear and several species of birds and fish.

How to reach Mae Ping National Park

The national park is best reached from the town of Lamphun. From there, taked Route 1087 until approximately KM20 to reach the park headquarters.
