Mahatthai U-Thit Bridge is a bridge near Wat Ratchanatdaram. It crosses the Mahanak Canal in Bangkok, and is the starting point for Khlong Saen Saeb. The name Mahatthai U-Thit means "Ministry of Interior Bridge". This was because officials of the Mahatthai (Ministry of the Interior) contributed money to pay for the bridge, in addition to HRH Prince Damrong Rajanubhab, who is considered the Father of Thai History and the first Minister of the Interior.

Mahatthai U-Thit Bridge is built of concrete with supporting arches under it. It is embellished with wreath and chakra (Narayana's weapon) motif. The Mahatthai U-Thit bridge is designated a national heritage by the Fine Arts Department.

Getting there

The Mahatthai U-Thit Bridge is located near Wat Ratchanatdaram and the Mahakan Fort. It is not a major tourist sight. Just take a look at it if you are visiting Wat Ratchanatdaram. There are no Skytrains in this area, so the best way to reach Mahatthai U-Thit Bridge is by taxi.
