 Sai Yok National Park
Sai Yok National Park is a national park in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. It is located some 98 km northwest of Kanchanaburi Town, near the border with Myanmar.
Sai Yok was a site of a large Prisoner-of-War labour camp and Japanese army barracks during the Second World War. The national park was established in 1980 and covers an area of 500 square kilometers (190 sq miles). The area has picturesque scenery, particularly of the awesome Sai Yok Waterfalls, which tumbles into the Khwae Noi River near the park headquarters.
Visitors to Sai Yok National Park can find accommodation at park bungalows as well as houseboats. From there, they can charter boats to visit the surrounding limestone caves. The caves are home to the Kitti's hog-nosed bat. Measuring a mere 3 cm in length, these are the world's smallest bats. They were discovered on in 1973 by Thai naturalist Kitti Thonglongya.
To the south of the national park is the Burma-Thailand Railroad Memorial Trail commemorating the prisoners who died excavating the railroad cut.
