Sala Kanparien, Wat Pho, Bangkok
Sala Kanparien (also written Sala Karn Parien) is a hall in Wat Pho for teaching and learning. It is located on the southwest corner of the compound of the temple.
The Sala Kanparien was built in the Ayutthaya style. It was the viharn (main chapel) when Wat Pho was known as Wat Phodharam. Inside it there was once a Buddha statue, Phra Buddha Sassadea, which was the main Buddha image of Wat Phodharam. On the walls of Sala Kanparien are murals depicting hell and the twelve demons.
Sala Kanparien is used as a lecture theatre as well as a meditation center.
