Wat Phranang Sang is a Buddhist Temple in Central Phuket. Located at the intersection of Thep Krasattri with Don Jom Tao Road and Namtok Ton Ton Sai Road, it has an interesting history.

Wat Phranang Sang is believed to have been established by a lady known as Lady White Blood, in 1873. The story of Lady White Blood appears to be a Thai version of the Legend of Mahsuri in Langkawi.

According to the Lady White Blood story, there was once woman who was a faithful Buddhist. She was married to the chieftain of Nakhon Si Thammarat. One day, a minister accused her of having an affair with a retainer. Although she pleded innocent, her husband was forced to condemned her to death. She begged for a stay of execution, to make a pilgrimage trip to Sri Lanka. The husband allowed her the trip, to gain merit for himself and also to avoid having to execute her.

Lady White Blood returned from her pilgrimage with holy relics, and proceeded to erect Wat Phranang Sang to enshrine them. During her absence, there was a coup and her husband was killed. The new ruler decided to execute her after all. When her head was cut off, the blood that came out was pure white. This was taken as a sign of her purity and innocence. The locals commemorated her by erected temples in her honor.
