The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation is a body established to recognize specific individuals and organisations that have successfully restored structures of heritage value in the Asia-Pacific region. This project is part of Unesco's global strategic objective to promote the drafting and implementation of standard setting instruments in the field of culture. Unesco uses this programme to promote the stewardship of the world's cultural resources, including the built heritage and the foundation upon which communities can construct their future. In the Asia-Pacific region, Unesco provides support to conservation activities at all levels, and encourages the private section to play its part in preserving the region's cultural heritage. In line with this, Unesco has since 2000 recognised individuals and organisations with Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation. The recipients of these awards have ranges from private residences to palace complexes. The entries that won are recognised for setting the technical and social benchmarks for conservation int he region, and act as catalysts to uplift the level of conservation in Asia and the Pacific. Listed below are structures that have won the Unesco Heritage Awards that have been documented by AsiaExplorers. |
