Buôn Ma Thuột is a city in the Central Highlands of south-central Vietnam. It is the capital of Dak Lak Province and the largest city in the Central Highlands. The city has a population today of some 300,000 people (2011 estimate), in Vietnam's main coffee planting region.

Buôn Ma Thuột is surrounded by ethnic villages of the Ede and Mnong people. Within the city itself most of the people are ethnic Vietnamese. The name Buôn Ma Thuột means "village of the father of Thuột" in the Ede language while among the Mnong people, it is pronounced as Buôn Me Thuột.

Buôn Ma Thuột is instrumental in helping Vietnam become the second biggest coffee exporting nation after Brazil. Visitors to Buôn Ma Thuột may pay a visit to these plantations.

Buôn Ma Thuột was also the site of the final major battle of the Vietnam War, and today a memorial, in the form of an approaching tank, stands here to commemorate the victory of the North Vietnam Army.

    Museum chronicling the contribution of Buôn Ma Thuột in securing victory for the North against the South in the Vietnam War.

    A small Ede tribal village worth visiting for a chance to view their way of life.

  6. Victory Monument
    Memorial to the victory of the North Vietnam Army in the last major battle of the Vietnam War fought here.
