Cuc Phuong National Park is one of the best national parks in Vietnam. Located 140 km (87 mi) to the southwest of Hanoi, and 45 km (28 mi) to the west of Ninh Binh, it covers an area of 25,000 hectares (61,000 acres).

Cuc Phuong National Park is home to 64 species of mammals and 250 species of birds. Among the wildlife found here includes tigers, leopards, bats, wild boars, civet cats, flying foxes, and the Delacour langur primate, an endangered species. Poaching is a problem here as in other national parks in the country. However, at least the staff here seem to take a genuine interest in protecting the wildlife and the environment. This is reflected in the setting up of a research center for spotted deer near the park entrance.
There is also an Endangered Primate Rescue Center set up in 1993. The facility offers care and nursing to rescued primates such as the gibbon, langur and loris, many of which were confiscated from hunters and illegal wildlife trades.
There are jungle treks at Cuc Phuong National Park that lead to a number of attractive waterfalls, caves with prehistoric remains, and a Muong village where you can stay overnight.
