Vinh Nghiem Pagoda is believed to be the largest temple in Ho Chi Minh City. It was built in 1971 with funds from the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association. The centerpiece of the temple is the eight-story pagoda, which is the tallest in the city. There are Buddha images on each side of the pagoda.

 There is also another smaller tower at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda which is 16 feet (5 meters) tall. It is built of concrete but made to look like granite. A large main building is approached by stairs leading to five huge lacquered doors. The walls of the building are lined with painting of scriptural scenes. At the main altar is a huge seated Buddha. Behind the sanctuary is a room with photographs of the departed. There is also a statue of the goddess Quan Am.
